I recently came across this post about talking to your child about what happens during the day at preschool (or daycare!). With a child who has been through preschool myself, I caught myself getting frustrated at times when I would ask my child what happened at school and would get the reply "I don't remember" or "Nothing too exciting." As adults, it's easy for us to lose touch with where are children's minds are developmentally- we sometimes forget that they are living on a different timeline and are experiencing the world with a totally different set of perceptions than adults.
With that in mind, I'd like to share this editorial by Sarah Moudry with you. Hopefully it will help you get in touch with where your child might be coming from if he or she isn't answering much about what happened at school... and I'd like to think it will help you find opportunities to really listen when your child does open up and tell you!
